Peel Hospice shops are located at 7a and 7b Michael Street, Peel in the centre of a busy shopping area. The original shop was in Market Street and later Douglas Street. As leases expired it has been necessary in every case to find new premises which in 2002 took Share the Care to Captain Quilliam's Buildings in Michael Street, well known to Peel residents in the past as Felton's Ironmongers. The official opening was on Monday 4th March performed by Mrs. Hazel Hannan MHK.

Peel is known as Sunset City; facing west the summer sunsets are an event you can guarantee never getting used to. Peel has many claims for a place in Manx history, not least because of its now ruined castle on St. Patrick's Isle and the Cathedral contained within the walls. The Town's population is in the region of 3,800.

Hospice Shop opening hours are - Monday 1pm to 4:00pm Tuesday and Wednesday 10:00 am to 4:00pm; Thursday 10:00am to 1:00pm; Saturday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Tel: 01624 844390. Donations of clothes; gifts and bric-a-brac are greatly appreciated. If you have items to spare please take them along to the Peel Hospice Shop, they will bring valuable money for the Hospice service.

Di Hall - Peel Shop Manager
Di Hall
Peel Shop Manager

The Volunteer Shop Manager is Di Hall whose leadership continues to be a most valuable asset to the business. Both Di and Elaine Quayle her deputy have been involved from the early days of Peel trading. The large display windows are an added attraction. Dressed each week by Elizabeth Jowett, they receive regular compliments from visitors to Michael Street In addition to shop trading the Peel Shop Volunteers have for many years held an annual fashion show in the Corrin Hall. Such is the enthusiasm to raise money the ladies take great care to gather attractive clothes over the year and then actually model them on the night. There is no doubting the commitment of these volunteers.

Before leaving this Peel page, mention must be made of the Peel Charity Shop. Although unconnected with Hospice, the Volunteers work in harmony with Peel Hospice Shop and have consistently made contributions to various Hospice services. Latterly a considerable amount was donated towards the new Children's Hospice which is in the process of being built - a true indication of community spirit in Peel.
