Flog-it Day in August 2008
Flog-it in August will be on Sunday 3rd August on Noble's Park. Sorry, but all the pitches have no bee reserved.

We're sure you will want to know that Flog-it in May, Saturday 17th, raised £1,942.20 for patient care. Thanks to everyone, stall holders and visitors who made it all possible. There is a Photo Gallery with thirty-one photos recording the day - a great record of a great day.
Fancy Dress & Vintage Clothing Shop
The Fancy Dress & Vintage Clothing Shop - the seventh Hospice Shop - opened Thursday 19th June at 78 Bucks Road, next door to the Hospice Shop, 76 Bucks Road, Douglas. What used to be known as our Prop Shop was located above the Saleroom in Allan Street and so popular it had to move to larger premises - much larger premises. The Baby Boutique has reopened
Our Baby Boutique reopened Saturday 21st June, located upstairs, above the Allan Street Saleroom (Nos. 8-10), Douglas. Here you will find a wide choice of baby clothes, maternity wear, baby seats, and buggies, plus lots more.

Hospice Shops started in Port St. Mary and showed just what could be done by volunteers and a very generous public.
There is a page about our first Shop, run by the South Rushen Fundraising Committee (the photo - right - taken in 1986 pictures five of the original volunteers) , and through the years - opening our shops from the first in Bucks Road to the sixth in Onchan. Follow this link to go direct.

Hospice Shop Volunteers serve a
customer in the Onchan Shop.
Total Shop, saleroom, eBay, and recyclable receipts in 2008 continue at a high level despite our Ramsey Shop being closed for over two weeks for refurbishment; money paid to Hospice Care in the months, January to May was £184,500.
Once again, a really big thank you to our customers, to all those who gave - and continue to give - so many of the goods we sell in our six shops and three salerooms, and another very big thanks to our 200 plus Volunteers working in the Shops without whom none of this would be possible; “Every penny worked for and every penny counts."

Jewsbury & Brown’s
chemist is advertising plate
When getting ready for the Christmas Fair, Christine Kay, who looks after our eBay Shop, happened to notice a Shelly jelly mould in the Castletown Shop window and then spotted a rather special advert plate, so decided to bring this back to the office for sale in our eBay Shop, as items with adverts for shops always go well.
This fun plate from Jewsbury & Brown’s chemist advertises oriental tooth paste on a decorative background of various flowers which measures 23cm across. It was put up for auction and has made £535. Wow!

Hospice Shops now have seven recycling bins around the Island and, hopefully, more to come during the year. This is in addition to our six shops where customers are encouraged to collect postal bags for old mobile phones and printer cartridges for specialist recycling. Full details are on another page
Since launching our policy of recycling - mobile phones, ink cartridges, plus unsaleable shoes and clothes, we can report income to the end of December 2007 of £24,000. Brilliant! It all helps.
Please use our recycling bins and continue disposing your old mobile phones and empty inkjet printer cartridges, all making money for Hospice at the same time.
